It was a true reunion on the courts earlier this month - Friday, October 3rd, as we hosted our Fall edition of the High School Tennis Takeover at the Barnes Tennis Center. For many participants, it was a joyful return to the familiar courts and a chance to reconnect with friends made over the summer through the program. With more than 50 players recently joining us on Oct. 3rd, from various high schools across the community—from San Ysidro to City Heights, to Tierrasanta and Point Loma—everyone was excited to be back together again!

Many of these teen athletes have already crossed paths throughout the current girls’ high school tennis season, often facing each other in school matches. The friendships formed during the community summer program brought even more friendly competition and fun to the courts this fall.
The High School Tennis Takeover events are designed not just to offer enjoyable tennis opportunities, but, more importantly, to foster lasting friendships within the high school tennis community. Watching so many young athletes genuinely excited to reconnect with friends was a truly heartwarming experience.
Our community High School Takeover program is always offered FREE to all participants, as it is our goal to provide accessible tennis opportunities for all youth across San Diego. A big THANK YOU goes out to our donors, players, and community coaches for making this a fantastic evening. The courts were buzzing with teens taking part in fast-paced tennis drills, fitness lessons, group games, and rally play. And, of course, we always love to end the night with prizes and pizza for everyone!
An extra special SHOUT-OUT goes to Point Loma High School, which brought the largest group—with more than 20 players representing their team on the courts! We truly appreciate their coaches for promoting the event and encouraging their players to join in on the fun. Way to represent PLHS!!

Our next High School Tennis Takeover is scheduled for January, with the exact date to be announced soon. Stay tuned and use link below to register for future clinics.
We can’t wait to see everyone back on the courts!
